As the New Year quickly approaches—so long, 2020!—it is time for our pets to get to their New Year’s resolution! We want your pets to live their happiest and healthiest lives! Here are three resolutions your pet can stick to.
Resolution #1: Chase more squirrels in real life instead of in dreams
Exercise is a critical part of keeping your pet mentally and physically healthy. Without routine activity, your furry pal can become overweight and suffer from a variety of weight-related health conditions, such as diabetes, osteoarthritis, heart disease, hypertension, and some cancers. Regular exercise also provides mental stimulation, staving off boredom, and problem behaviors.
Resolution #2: Tone down the puppy-dog eyes when the humans are eating
Does your four-legged friend stare soulfully while you’re eating? If so, avoid giving in to pleading mews and begging puppy eyes, since those few extra calories you share add up quickly, especially when you share high-fat and high-calorie snacks. Instead of tossing your pet a handful of potato chips or your pizza crust, opt for low-calorie options, like baby carrots, green beans, broccoli, and tiny pieces of lean meat.
Resolution #3: Explore new places and make new friends
Don’t be stuck in a rut when it comes to outdoor activities and hanging out with your furry friends. Take your pet to new, unique places, and create new lifelong bonds with other furry friends. Outdoor parks, trails, and beaches are a great way to let your pet meet new friends in a safe and socially distant way!
